The act of strangulation stands alone among types of domestic violence assault due to its potential for physical harm and its correlation with intimate partner lethality. This 60-90 minute presentation introduces participants to the forms, health risks, and deadly features of this issue, with a focus on how various helpers can assess and assist strangulation victims. Includes information on prevalence, perpetrator tactics, signs and symptoms, hypoxia's short- and long-term effects, and first responder questions.
